Workshop Summary

The ATR 4.0 Workshop was held in Gladstone on October 14 as a major step towards creation of a new Alumina Technology Roadmap.
Over 100 delegates from the alumina industry, suppliers and researchers participated.

The Workshop was designed around 5 Key Themes:
1. Energy of the Future – decarbonizing our industry
2. Residue – or not?
3. Process Science & Technology
4. Industry 4.0 – the Digital Revolution
5. Market risks & responses

The Workshop was preceded by Panel Q&A to set the scene and align the participants to the task. This was followed by theme-based breakout workshops in two parts: a ‘divergent thinking’ session to envisage the ideal future, followed by a ‘convergent thinking session’ to explore how to get there. The outcomes were then shared in a common close-out session.

The output of the Workshop is a key input to the new Alumina Technology Roadmap, ATR 4.0, which is being developed under the direction of the Alumina Technical Panel.
