SLURRY TANK SWIRL FLOW AGITATION

It is not uncommon for slurry tanks in alumina and other minerals processing plants to experience reliability issues that lead to maintenance shut-downs. Sediment accumulation at the bottom of the tank and scale build up on wall surfaces require cleaning, which can mean considerable time offline. Poor mixing can lead to increased consumption of chemical additives. Other issues, such as erosive wear and mechanical failures, also reduce the operational reliability of slurry tanks leading to lost production and increased labour cost. Swirl Flow (SF) technology was developed to solve these agitation problems, and a number of successful case studies are discussed.
