THE DISPOSAL OF SODIUM OXALATE FROM THE BAYER PROCESS

The, K.I.

Sodium oxalate is a by-product of the Bayer process that must be disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner because of its potentially harmful effects to living beings. To meet this need, Alcan has recently developed disposal processes that either use the compound as a precursor for the manufacturing of others marketable materials or decompose it microbially into harmless by-products.
