QAL ADVANCED PROCESS CONTROL PROGRAM

An aggressive program of Advanced Process Control projects has been undertaken at QAL since 2014, which has delivered considerable value to the refinery. Since 2014 6 Honeywell Profit Suite MPC applications have been commissioned to optimize different sections of the refinery and is scheduled to commission another 4 MPC applications in 2018. This paper provides an overview of the QAL APC program of works with a specific review of the Precipitation APC Application which is the largest APC Application deployed to date having 1850 submodel relationships. The project was successfully completed in 2 stages over 18 months using existing instrumentation. A description of how SysCAD Dynamic was used to design and tune the application offline is provided.
